About Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kameshwar Narayan Singh Government Polytechnic, Samastipur, Bihar, was established in 2016 under the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Government of Bihar. The department offers a three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 60 students.

The department emphasizes quality education, practical skills and industry-oriented learning, supported by well-equipped laboratories and workshops covering Thermal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines, Manufacturing, Metrology, Automobile Engineering and CAD/CAM.

The institute also houses a Centre of Excellence in 3D Printing Technology, established in collaboration with IIT Patna and the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Government of Bihar. The centre promotes additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, innovation and hands-on technical learning.

Through practical training, projects, industrial visits, seminars and skill-development activities, the department strives to develop competent, innovative and industry-ready diploma engineers for employment, entrepreneurship and higher education.
